Throughout the years, we have had some extraordinary padlocks pass through our hands. Below is a selection of locks that have been sold through auctions during the last four years.
Stubbs Combination Lock
sold in 2015 for $2,800.00
This very rare, all brass lock was in excellent condition. Other than a rusted spring replaced by Bob Dix, the lock was mechanically perfect and original.
Quarter Master's Dept. U.S. Lock
sold in 2015 for $2,600.00
This near mint condition brass push key lock was quite rare and extremely beautiful.
Brass Key
sold in 2013 for $935.00
This brass interchangeable bit key was in excellent condition. It possibly came from R. Newell and had extra bits attached on a ring.
U.S. Registered Mail Lock
sold in 2013 for $5,100.00
This seal lock was in excellent condition with a working key.
E. Cotterill & Co Iron Lever
sold in 2015 for $1,850.00
This iron and brass lock of excellent condition has its original key and traces of the original finish on the lock.
Cherub Story Lock
sold in 2013 for $1,300.00,
This push key story lock was in near mint condition with the original key. With a cherub and birds on the front and RE Co logo on the back, this was a beautiful lock.
Panama Canal Commemorative Lock
sold in 2013 for $1,800.00
This commemorative lock from the Panama California Exposition of 1915 was extremely rare. On the back there is an image of a ship in a canal between pillars. With a possibly original key, this was a truly beautiful lock.
The Widow’s Mite
sold in 2015 for $1,300.00
The cast iron Widow Mite came with its original key and was in excellent condition.
D. & R.G.Ry. Ice House Lock
sold in 2014 for $1,900.00
This brass push key lock had a working key and was in very good condition.
Yale Slide Pin Tumbler
sold in 2013 for $6,100.00
Patented September 5th, 1857, this panel lock Yale slide model was very rare. It was in excellent condition, and had its original key.
King Bee Lock
sold in 2013 for $1,100.00
Made by the Eagle Lock Co in Terryville, CT, this brass lever had a working key and was in excellent condition. It was a rare and beautiful piece.
